JUST FOR YOU
A Gift of Music, A Legacy of Support

band trailer

Last month, we had the honor of presenting McIntosh County Academy with a new band trailer — an investment in the future of our talented student musicians.

This donation is especially meaningful, as it is given in honor of Mary Lou’s late brother, Reginald Jackson, former Vice President of Darien Telephone. Reggie was a talented saxophonist, a proud member of the Jekyll Island Dance Band, and a devoted supporter of the MCA Band. His generosity helped fund student travel to competitions and so much more. His passion for music lives on in the very band room named in his honor, and now, in this new trailer that will serve students for years to come.

A heartfelt thank you to Mary Lou Forsyth, whose vision and generosity made this moment possible.

Here’s to the MCA Band — may your music continue to inspire!

Spring Clean Your Tech: How to Refresh Your Devices and Internet for Better Performance

Spring in Darien and McIntosh County means blooming azaleas, warmer days on the water, and of course, a little spring cleaning. While you’re airing out the house and clearing out the clutter, don’t forget to give your tech a refresh, too! A little maintenance can go a long way in keeping your devices running smoothly and your internet performing at its best.

Here are a few simple ways to spring clean your tech and stay connected hassle-free:

  1. Give Your Router a Fresh Start
Your Wi-Fi router works hard year-round, and just like your home, it can benefit from a little TLC. Here’s what to do:
✔ Restart it — A quick reboot clears out any minor issues and improves performance.
✔ Dust it off — Keep it clean and away from heat sources for better airflow.
✔ Check for updates — Make sure your router’s firmware is up to date for security and speed improvements.
  2. Declutter Your Devices
A slow device can make even the fastest internet feel sluggish. Try these quick tech-cleaning tips:
✔ Uninstall unused apps — Free up space and reduce background activity.
✔ Delete old files and photos — Back up what you need, then clear out the rest.
✔ Update your software — Running the latest updates keeps devices secure and efficient.
  3. Optimize Your Wi-Fi Connection
If your Wi-Fi signal isn’t reaching every corner of your home, consider these fixes:
✔ Move your router — A central, elevated spot helps maximize coverage.
✔ Reduce interference — Keep it away from thick walls, large metal objects, and microwaves.
✔ Consider an upgrade — If your router is more than a few years old, it may be time for a new one.
  4. Run a Speed Test & Assess Your Plan
Spring is a great time to check your internet speed and see if it meets your household’s needs. If you’re working from home, streaming, or gaming, you may need a faster plan to keep up. Run a speed test and contact Darien Telephone if you’re ready to upgrade!
  5. Secure Your Connection
Just like you lock your doors at night, make sure your Wi-Fi network is protected:
✔ Use a strong, unique password to keep unwanted users off your network.
✔ Enable security updates to keep your devices and data safe.

Refresh, Reset, and Stay Connected!

Spring is a time for fresh starts, and that includes your tech. Whether it’s speeding up your internet, upgrading your devices, or securing your connection, Darien Telephone is here to help.

Cybercriminals Leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI)
