Join us on this exclusive day trip to the North End of Sapelo Island to tour the ruins of Chocolate Plantation and the mysterious Native American Shell Rings. Along the way we will stop for a picnic lunch (pack a lunch since there is nowhere to purchase one). The trip will conclude with a visit to one of the pristine beaches on the island. The Naturalist will give the history of Sapelo Island as well as point out some of the amazing natural features along the way.
Participants should meet at the ferry visitor center to purchase their $15 (cash or check only) roundtrip tickets at 8:00 AM. The tour is $40 per person. After the tour, the ferry will depart Sapelo Island at 4:30 PM and will return to the mainland dock at 5:00 PM. Pack your lunch, water, bug stray, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes. Please email the naturalist with any additional questions at Stephanie.Chewning@dnr.ga.gov.
