Netscape Navigator v3.0x

This section describes how to configure Netscape Navigator to access your POP e-mail box.

  1. From Options menu, select Mail and News Preferences.

  1. Click the Servers tab at the top of the dialog box.
    • Outgoing Mail Server: "smtp.registeredsite.com"
    • Incoming Mail Server: "pop.registeredsite.com"
    • POP3 User Name: popID/yourdomain.com

  2. Click the Identity tab.
    • Name: your name
    • Your E-mail: the e-mail address for the POP mailbox
    • Reply-to Address: your e-mail address

All other settings are optional. Choosing Netscape Mail from the Window menu will then open a box that will allow you read and send mail.

Netscape Communicator v4.0x

This section describes how to configure Netscape Communicator to access your POP e-mail box.

  1. From the Edit menu, select Preferences.

  1. Open the Mail & Groups section, and Click Mail Server.
    • Mail Server User Name: user_name@darientel.net
    • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.darientel.net
    • Incoming Mail Server: pop.darientel.net

  2. Click Identity in the left column.
    • Your Name: your name
    • E-mail Address: the e-mail address for the POP mailbox
    • Reply-to Address: your e-mail address

All the other settings are optional. Choosing Messenger Mailbox from the Communicator menu will open the part of Netscape that allows you to read and send mail.

Netscape Communicator v4.5x

This section describes how to configure Netscape Communicator to access your POP e-mail box.

  1. From the Edit menu, select Preferences.

  1. Open the Mail & Newsgroups section and click Mail Servers.
    • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.darientel.net
    • Click Add to add a new POP Server

  2. Configure Pop Server
    • Server Name: pop.darientel.net
    • Server Type: select POP3 Server.
    • User Name: user_name@darientel.net

  3. Click Identity in left column.
    • Your Name: your name
    • E-mail Address: the e-mail address for the POP mailbox
    • Reply-to Address: your e-mail address

All other settings are optional. Choosing Messenger Mailbox from the Communicator menu will open the part of Netscape that allows you to read and send mail.

Unfortunately, Netscape Messenger does not natively support retrieval of multiple e-mail accounts for POP3 mail servers. To retrieve mail from multiple accounts, you will need to setup additional user profiles using the User Profile Manager supplied with Netscape. See your Netscape documentation for more information.

Configuring Mail For Netscape Communicator 6.01
To set up your mail and news for Communicator, go to the Start button, click Programs, followed by Netscape 6, and then Profile Manager.

Netscape 6 stores information about your settings, preferences, bookmarks, stored messages, and other user items in your user profile.

Click on Create a New Profile.

Please read the information listed for further instructions and Click Next.


Enter a new Profile Name: (This is usually your login ID or the first part of your e-mail address.


Click Finish to create this New Profile.

From the Select User Profile Screen: Highlight the profile that you would like to configure, and Click Start Netscape 6.


Click Tasks and then select Mail.

Next Click Edit, and Mail/News Account Settings.


Click New Account (on the bottom left).

Select the type of account you would like to setup: ISP or e-mail provider should be selected, and Click Next.


Enter Your Name: Enter the name you would like to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages, (For example, "John Doe")


Enter Your E-mail Address: (For example, "login@darientel.net) and Click Next.
Select the Type of Mail Server: POP Server should be selected.


Enter the Name of Your Incoming Mail Server: pop.darientel.net


Enter the Name of Your Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.darientel.net

Click Next


Enter the username given to you by your provider: (This is the first part of your e-mail address).

Enter the name by which you would like to refer to this account. (For example, "Work Account", "Home Account", this is your option).

Congratulations : You have entered all the information required to setup this account. Click Finish to save these settings and Exit the Account Setup Wizard.
